September 23, 2021: Art of the Dog Fundraiser

The AKC Museum of the Dog is collaborating with the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation for the “Art of the Dog” fundraiser taking place Thursday, September 23rd from 5:30PM- 7:30PM at the AKC Museum of the Dog. It honors the German Shepherd Dog (GSD), a breed Fidelco trains and breeds exclusively. The event will highlight how the GSD has changed the lives of Fidelco clients who are visually impaired. The Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation was founded in 1960 and is an official breeding and training organization that remains a recognized leader in the guide dog industry. It is also the only guide dog organization to solely breed GSDs.
To kick off the night, there will be a guided museum tour where guests will get an inside look at the museum’s current Search and Rescue exhibit. Attendees will also hear a firsthand account from a Fidelco client who will discuss the positive impact having a guide dog has had on their life. To close out the night, there will be a video demonstration of one of the guide dogs painting their own work followed by a live auction of several of their paintings. Guests will then be able to bid in a live auction featuring nine original pieces painted by Fidelco guide dogs. Guests who are not able to attend the event in person, can participate in an online auction where they can bid on 11 paintings created by the Fidelco guide dogs. Proceeds of this fundraiser will go to the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation and the AKC Museum of the Dog. The event is open to the public and tickets can be purchased HERE. If you are unable to attend in person, the event will be live-streamed and you can still participate online.
